I recently bought one of these little Asus beauties! All I can say is, Keep the Linux on it! The custom Linux interface is sweet. Microsoft is collapsing under the weight of its own shitty business practices and crappy products. Asus is a wonderful break from all of that madness. I would also recommend keeping Windows away from the Asus because Asus doesn’t have the needlessly robust hardware to support Windows’ crapware and endless updates and endless patches. It runs smooth and light because the Linux works. It was OpenOffice on there for a word processor — which I’ve used to write whole novel-length manuscripts.
There’s a 9-inch version coming out soon, which will also be very interesting.

Thing is, everything I need for blogging is XP-based. Photo Toolikit, the Firefox browser plug-ins, etc.
I’ve played with the EeePC several times at J&R. They did a great job with the Linux UI.
