Confirmed: New Sony Reader October 2008!
CNet Crave reports: Sony Reader event October 2: New product coming?
There’s a graphic of an invite there which seems to dramatize wireless capability for the Reader: words are swirling out and around a Reader being held.
Just last week I posted: Rumor: New Sony Reader + Mac OS Software? in which I passed on a rumor of a wireless Reader appearing in November.
Now it seems to be arriving a month earlier! (Although actual availability might still be November. We all know how tech companies like to announce things before shipments begin.)
Could this be due to Apple having an iPod Touchbook to introduce in October?
The eBook market is getting exciting!

I wonder if they’ll offer a trade in credit like they did with the 2nd generation. I can wait since I just bought mine, dammit.

Wow, I just traded in my old PRS-500 for the PRS-505 and love it! Luckily, I also got the 3-year insurance, which was $90, that allows me to trade in a “broken” one for a brand new one of the *current* model, even if it is a new model (say a PRS-510 or whatever).
I just hope this new one fits the light-wedge light cover because that thing is awesome.

You’re the first person to mention having that cover! Does it fit the Reader well? Some other covers — just color ones — Sony put out had problems. Is it very bright? Too bright? Can the brightness be adjusted? Is that wedge really thick? Any fears of it breaking or scratching the screen?
