CeBIT 2008: An Exciting MID Shown
It looks like Steve (aka Chippy) has struck gold at CeBIT 2008:
Gigabyte M528 impresses with Atom and Ubuntu Mobile
Myself and JKK had a good 30 minutes in private with the M528 this morning and I am very happy to say that it impressed us. Running Ubuntu Mobile on an Atom 800Mhz with 4GB flash and a very nice thumboard (read, better than the N810) it seems to perform as well as it looks. Its more pocketable, more powerful, better looking and will be priced very competitively.
I like the looks of this thing. It’s the first MID that’s caught my attention in a good way. It also reminds me of another prototype shown last year and mentioned in my old blog.
There are more photos and a video is promised, so go look!
jkkmobile also has a very brief Gigabyte M528 hands on. I’m sure he’ll have more details later too.
It will be very interesting to see what the price of this will be. It’s competing in a world that now has such things as the Everex CloudBook and Asus EeePC! That wasn’t something anyone expected when Intel first announced its MID initiative.
