Wikileaks: Whistleblower exposes insider trading program at JP Morgan

By gaming the system this way, JP Morgan teaches insiders how to use their knowledge to create a rigged market, one in which it is the “house” that always wins, and the small investor that always loses.

Emphasis added by me.

Let me repeat the words of Former Fed Chairman Alan Greenspan:

There’s been too much gaming of the system until it is broke. Capitalism is not working! There has been a corrupting of the system of capitalism.

Now do you understand what he meant? You think people didn’t tell him?

Good News or Bad? Local Gun Shop Jammed w/ Buyers

My wife and I visited our local Gun shop over the weekend to purchase a hand gun for her. You couldn’t believe how many people were in this store buying fireamrs! I shop regularly at this store for cheap ammunition to shoot at the range, so I am familiar with the traffic. This place was jammed. You could hardly get around each other at the counters and down the aisles. The tension was thick. People seemed tense. I was hyped up on coffee and feeling honery so I loudly proclaimed, “Everyone here must be worried about the Economy and riots in the streets!” I thought I was going to get kicked out. But everyone sighed in agreement; some even clapping their hands. I believe people are finally getting worried.

One more thing, to really destroy your peaceful sleep: Remember New Orleans during Katrina? Remember the non-response from D.C.?

America was conned – who will pay?

Indeed, it is somewhat surprising that there is not already rioting in the streets, given the gigantic fraud perpetrated by the financial elite at the expense of ordinary Americans.

Emphasis added by me.

Let me address that quote first.

When the chaos begins, who do you think can be called in to attempt a restoration of stability?

The National Guard? — what? Bush will fly them back from Iraq and Afghanistan? And they’ll arrive in time to halt the looting that’s happening in the streets? In just about every major American city?

I’m not sure anyone is getting this yet.

This is Armageddon.

This is the end of the way things were.

I’m certain the majority of people who are reading this — either as an addict of this blog or stumbling across it from reading a different post — are scoffing.

Time will tell. As it does with everything.

Right now, today alone there are so many awful news reports that I just can’t dredge up the strength to post even a fraction of them.

And, as you will see, this is just the overture, the opening credits. These are all the business writers simply doing their analyses.

We have yet to see the headlines of Act One:

CitiCorp To Close Half of Branches
Record Euro Paradox: U.S. Tourism Drought
Unemployment Approaches 10%
Food Prices Defy Gravity

Act Two sneak peek:

Crowds Before Dawn At Supermarkets
D.C. Plans Curfew Rules
Gas Rationing Imposed

Wet Circuit

I was using Google Image Search for a still from the silent classic movie Metropolis and this site had several. (Which, fair use warning, I might steal.)

The layout of the entry intrigued me and I went exploring.

Wow. This site is great.

Unfortunately, I can’t get the two explanatory links to work, the one that describes the site and the one that describes the person behind it.

Apparently this is a CGI/video artist. I love her aesthetic. And the films she highlights under Admired Works with stills display a very keen and refined eye.

Go look. You’ll be spending a few hours there. Gladly!

Lincoln, FDR, Nader

March 17, 2008

Zogby International released a poll yesterday.

It showed McCain 45, Clinton 39, Nader 6 percent.

And it showed McCain 44, Clinton 39,and Nader 5 percent.

“Nader’s presence in the race can potentially turn a lulu of a race into an absolute tizzy,” said pollster John Zogby. “The messages to Democrats are clear – number one, Nader may win enough support to get into the general election debates. Number two, what could be at risk is support among several key constituencies that the Democratic Party candidate will need to win in November, notably younger voters, independents, and progressives.”

Our view on this is simple:

Nader/Gonzalez are on one end of the political spectrum, Clinton/Obama/McCain are on the other.

Five or six percent is our floor.

Emphasis added by me.

Abraham Lincoln wanted to hold the country together and went to war for it.

FDR wanted to hold the country together and waged economic war for it.

The economic trendline between now and November is clear.

There is only one candidate who has looked out for us his entire life.
