April 1: Truckers Strike?

See this update.

Truckers “going broke” and threatening to strike

One thing the association is trying to do is talk to lawmakers and truckers about making sure that surcharges being charged to shippers are getting back to the people who paid for the gas. Surcharges are supposed to compensate for high fuel charges, but they must be negotiated with each shipper, and the truckers who pay at the pump aren’t always first in line to receive the surcharges.

Even when the surcharges do make it back to the driver, they are not enough.

“I turn down loads every day,” Little said. “The loads aren’t the problem — never have been.

“It’s the only thing I know how to do, driving a truck. But I sold my trailer the other day, and I’m not buying another one until something gets done.

“In no way, shape or form do truckers want to hurt this country. My whole deal on this thing is that I’m shutting down on April 1. Call it a strike, a shutdown or just flat-ass going broke.”

God bless the American trucker.

Giant corporate agribusiness grows the food — but the American trucker gets it to our stores.

Hey you truckers: excuse the political plug, but only one candidate would worry about you. Go do right this November!

  1. Robert Odell Says:

    I not only support your strike, I request that we ask for soliditary. This effects all America. I propose a national day of consumer strike in support. It is time that the people stand up against the machine. This is an atempt to put the American trucking industry under. To expand the N.A.F.T.A. ,and have Mexician drivers on our roads. Brothers and sisters see the light stand up, one nation indvisable. Just one day will let them know that ” We are mad as hell, and we aren’t going to take it any more”. So on April don’t buy a damn thing. Business and the tax man will be put on notice. This time one day, next time,one week,after that one month. But we will need to support one another,if a brotheris hungry feed him. If he needs a roof shelter him. If we don’t soon there will no longer be the America we know and love. Stand up like our for fathers did for us…..God Bless America…Robert Odell…P.S. (I am not a trucker,but i know who brings the food to my table)

  2. Travis Says:

    You are so right.There is alot of power in large group of people. When will they stand up togather and said it time to make change IN America.Alot of other country are taking the America people money and jobs away.Just look at a dollar. {4.00 gal for fuel}

  3. Kim Watts Says:

    My family will be one family that will NOT be buying anything on Apr. 1. We know who brings the food to the stores and are appreciative of those hard working folks. We’re also really tired of the big corporations trying to put the single truck companies out of business. It’s the individual truckers that are people just like us…..not the big corporations that simply tag on an enormous fuel charge for their orders and then keep on trucking.

  4. penny bryson Says:

    I would fast as long as it took to help. I would do what it takes. The truckers have the upper hand, hope they slap them with it.

  5. john milner Says:

    I am on O/O with Landstar Ranger, Jacksonville, FL. I will be shut down on april 1-3. I WILL ALSO BE SHUT DOWN FOR THE NEXT TRUCKER’S STRIKE UNTIL FUEL PRICES COME DOWN OR RATES GO WAY UP !
    I BELIEVE THAT BOTH COMPANY DRIVERS AND O/O’S COULD ORGANIZE IN THEIR COMPANY AND CAUSE THEIR COMPANY TO INCREASE THEIR PAY.

    STICK TOGETHER

  6. Ashley Miller Says:

    I completley agree with the strike. I work in a trucking company, and although “corporate” says my guys have to still run, I think it’s an amazing idea. Someone needs to do something. So God Bless all truckers! I, like many families, will not shop on April 1st. If we could all get together, maybe we could wake someone in Washington up.

  7. NEIL GROSS Says:

    I AM A EX OWNER OP AND NOW HAVE A HEAT AND AIR BUSINESS. GAVE THE ROAD UP 5 YEARS AGO BUT STLL LISTEN TO ROAD DOG AND BELONG TO OOIDA. I WILL SUPPORT THE STRIKE AND AL THAT IT STANDS FOR. IF YOU SEE A BEAR HEAT AND AIR PICK UP IN THE OKC AREA KNOW THAT WE SUPPORT THE OWNER OPERATOR

  8. Hill Billy Says:

    The union truckers are going to sit back and watch you go broke. Then they will have the
    entire industry for themselves.

  9. Tony Says:

    I don’t keep up with the news but I do listen to the doggone radio and while i’ve heard plenty of griping and some talk about a one day shutdown I didn’t hear the date untill today and I heard it from a non-trucker

    I decided the first time I heard about a oneday shut-down I would participate even tho the only good I KNEW it would do is get people’s attention and not change a thing on it’s own. We need to do this for at least a week and we need to plan a concrete date months in advance and most importantly we need to promote the hell out of it. This thing has got to be big or it will be worthless

    It’s too late for me do to poor organization, and promotion. My integrity is on the line and I will deliver tomorrow but I will promote shut-down for the remainder of the week

  10. Dan Says:

    I am thinking about working for this company that sells a cumbustion cooling system that increases horsepower and fuel efficiency. The website is http://www.supercooler.us.

    Glad there was a strike. Hopefully that sent a message to Washington. If the politicians aren’t going to help, we might have to help ourselves.

  11. cam Says:

    dan my dad owns the compayn supercooler.us
    it is a great system

  12. Would you say that quadrupling travel of your truck from a tank of fuel sounds too good to be true?

    No! Not at all a Polish Canadian inventor says, because he has converted a small Suzuki engine (photo attached) into a gun-engine technology. The conversion included:
    – detonating fuel vapor or gaseous fuels to increase pressure acting on piston, which improves conversion of energy released from fuel into mileage;
    – enforcing highest pressure to meet horizontal position of the crank to boost torque up to 100 times without increasing fuel consumption;
    – adjustable compression ratio (on fly) to allow any fuel octane’s;
    – multiple power stroke resulting from single detonation of fuel;

    Q. Why detonating fuel vapor?

    A. Detonation of fuel speeds up energy release from fuel (perhaps 1000 times), which boosts power output in the same proportion from the same fuel!

    Q. Why enforcing the highest pressure to meet horizontal position of the crank?

    A. Torque is a force resulting from pressure acting on piston by a distance of crank from the centerline of cylinder, thus max pressure of combustion occurs in diesel engine of your truck when the crank is aligned with the centerline of cylinder and at that point the distance is zero. This zero distance is reason of waste since the highest potential does not contribute to torque or power at all and is wasted to wear off parts.

    I’ve attached a photo of a Suzuki engine that was converted into gun-engine technology. The convert is attached to a dynamometer ready for testing. Because converted Suzuki detonates fuel vapor or gaseous fuels, which generates up to 14 times higher pressure that the max pressure Suzuki cylinders can withstand, I limited fuel supply to only 10% of that recommended by Suzuki’s Manual to prevent cylinder bursting. Nonetheless the power output was measured 40 % higher than the maximum power of the original Suzuki that was fully fueled. Also zero toxic emissions were observed when tests were conducted using many fuels. Resulting fuel savings was 95 %.

    I do not promise that your truck would save 95 % of fuel, because fuel consumption depends also of driving skills and road conditions, but I know that a poor driver would enjoy tripling of truck travel from tank of fuel. How does it sound? Would you improve profit from your truck?

    You do not need surcharges and striking. All you need is to convert your diesel engine into my gun-engine technology

    If you want to know more about this marvel technology please contact me: email gun-engine@shaw.ca or Ph. 778.397.8999 (morning west coast time)
