John Straley’s New Book: May 2, 2008

John Straley is a writer I’ve mentioned before (see below). I love his work, especially his Cecil Younger series of mysteries (which everyone should collect and read!).

His new book, The Big Both Ways, will be available starting May 2nd.

And he will be doing a book tour for it too! It’s all on the west coast (alas for me!).

There’s also a chance to pal around worship at his feet stand in awe of him on May 18-19 during a Schooner cruise! It’s being billed as A Mysterious Night with John Straley.

Come aboard this May for a rare opportunity to spend some time with author John Straley while sailing around Washington’s most enchanted islands. John will read from his new novel which is partially set on small vessels headed up the Inside Passage to Alaska. He’ll talk about his research and writing as well as crime stories he’s gathered from working as a Private Investigator along the waterfront of southeastern Alaska. This 2-day adventure explores the San Juan Islands aboard the largest working Tall Ship on the west coast. First launched in 1924 as a racing yacht, the 127-foot Schooner Zodiac has been fully restored for cruising the waters of the Pacific Northwest.

That sounds like huge fun!

John Straley is no slouch. He’s been honored thusly:

Every two years the Alaska State Council on the Arts selects a writer to represent the state because of their exemplary professionalism, literary excellence and commitment to the advancement of literary arts in Alaskan communities.

John Straley is the current Alaska State Writer Laureate.

Congratulations again to John. I eagerly await his new book!
