MSI Caves In To My Threat
You better see my tongue in cheek there.
Tiffany Lin, Marketing Specialist for MSI in California, emailed me:
The Windows version of the Wind is priced at $499 MSRP, and will be available for purchase starting June 16th, 2008 at http://www.msimobile.com. The Linux based models of the Wind will be available at the same site later this summer for $399 MSRP.
And we may be able to release more retailers’ info for carrying the Wind NB shortly.
I hope so!
I’m not going to buy it without feeling up that keyboard.
The hp Mini Note was promising but its keyboard and weight disqualified it.
The Lenovo U110 sounded soooo good but its keyboard killed it for me.
I would have been very disappointed had I bought either of those sight unseen.
I don’t want that to happen with the MSI Wind.
Besides, I can have that Asus e900 to fall back on.

June 16th?!
Ouch. I will be leaving NYC for double-price-Sweden on the 15th :P
You don’t happen to know any places in NYC that carries, say, the eeePC 900 for a nice price? :)

J&R carries the e900. But it’s still listed as out of stock:

DataVision also carries it, but I don’t know if it’s also in-store.

You could call and check.
Those are the Windows XP versions. The Linux version is coded 900L.

If you can’t get past the Mini Note keyboard, I don’t know if you’ll like the Wind’s. I have an Shift, Mini Note, Eee and a Vaio T series, and will probably pick up the Wind, too.

I won’t know til I try it. I had no idea from just looking at the MacBook keyboard, for example, that it’s wonderful for my fingers.

True, it’s hard to tell until you see it in person. I also own a MacBook Pro, MacBook and an XPS M1330 (Yes, I have a problem.) I like the MB Pro’s keyboard the best. The MacBook’s kb is similar to the Vaio T-series, too. It’s just hard to find that one “perfect” device.

I love the MacBook keyboard. I can’t stand the keyboard on the MacBook PRO. I have finicky fingers. But I must indulge them or they refuse to type properly. (I also they’re forming a union behind my back. I have a spy amongst them!)
