Palin pressured Wasilla librarian
In December 1996, [librarian Mary Ellen] Emmons told her hometown newspaper, the Frontiersman, that Palin three times asked her — starting before she was sworn in — about possibly removing objectionable books from the library if the need arose.
Emmons told the Frontiersman she flatly refused to consider any kind of censorship. Emmons, now Mary Ellen Baker, is on vacation from her current job in Fairbanks and did not return e-mail or telephone messages left for her Wednesday.
When the matter came up for the second time in October 1996, during a City Council meeting, Anne Kilkenny, a Wasilla housewife who often attends council meetings, was there.
Like many Alaskans, Kilkenny calls the governor by her first name.
“Sarah said to Mary Ellen, ‘What would your response be if I asked you to remove some books from the collection?” Kilkenny said.
“I was shocked. Mary Ellen sat up straight and said something along the line of, ‘The books in the Wasilla Library collection were selected on the basis of national selection criteria for libraries of this size, and I would absolutely resist all efforts to ban books.'”

While Sarah was Mayor of Wasilla she tried to fire our highly respected City Librarian because the Librarian refused to consider removing from the library some books that Sarah wanted removed. City residents rallied to the defense of the City Librarian and against Palin’s attempt at out-and-out censorship, so Palin backed down and withdrew her termination letter. People who fought her attempt to oust the Librarian are on her enemies list to this day.

The Republicans chose Palin to pander to the evangelical drones and brain dead fundamentalists because they are the only way for their party to stay in power. Unfortunatley they are also the ones delusional enough to sell themselves into Fascist rule just do their deities bidding, or what they believe to be it’s bidding.
I fear we are going to become another Afghanistan, only it will be Christians who will be the dictating cult this time. I have my passport, I’ve waited out Bushco thinking perhaps I would see my country regain it’s mind, but now it seems just a question of when I will be packing up my trunk and heading to Canada, not if.
This is NOT what my father, and all the men like him, fought the Nazis for. It’s not!

Do you know of any actual proof that Sarah Palin fired the librarian due to a refusal to remove books?
All I’ve seen is what you mention above … the word of the librarian that Palin asked her about possibly removing objectionable books and the word of a resident of the town.
Is there any evidence?
