Leverage: The Miracle Job

The usual berating: If you haven’t yet caught up with Leverage on TNT, you are depriving yourself of the best new TV series of 2008.

Episode 4 aired last night and Santa delivered it to me quickly. But I tarried today, so this post doesn’t reflect the early gift I got.

Let me start out as usual, rolling the credits so everyone can take a bow:

A priest is having his church taken away from him due to underhanded land development. How can the team prevent that?

Sophie starred in a play last night, portraying a character no one would ever expect!

Nathan sees the priest at the hospital.

Leverages01e0417

Never be dumb enough …

Leverages01e0418

… to show a gun to Eliot …

Leverages01e0419

… he hates them …

Leverages01e0421

… and he’s epic at disarming people!

Leverages01e0422

The team is up against a sleazy developer.

Leverages01e0423

Shades of the classic Doctor Who episode Blink!

Leverages01e0425

Nathan has a moment …

Leverages01e0426

… with the luscious Sophie.

Leverages01e0427

Sleazy developer? Actually, he’s totally twisted!

Leverages01e0428

I have read and heard a lot about how the “Hollywood Left” just abhors God and spits on the Church …

Leverages01e0429

… you’d never know those behind this episode are “liberals” …

Leverages01e0430

… seeing the amount of reverence and respect

Leverages01e0431

… they paid to that institution and to the priesthood!

This episode didn’t rely on any hi-tech, so there’s no tech pr0n to show. It was a good old-fashioned con and easier to follow scam-wise than last week’s episode.

It was filled with the trademark hilarious Leverage character interplay.

And now, my Parker Pr0n!

I’ve been intentionally very light on plot elements this time because there’s so much in this episode that I have to tread lightly to not reveal spoilers left and right. I could quote some dialogue that’d make you laugh out loud — but you should do that while watching it.

No doubt most of you have seen A Charlie Brown Christmas. This was A Merry Leverage Christmas. Catch it if you can. You’ll want to see the entire series!

Another job well done, Team Leverage!

Note: This blog drops dead by midnight December 31st. I’ll try to get the next episode of Leverage posted before then, but I can make no promises. The, um, time-shifting is out of my hands.
